With the start of a new season, at Baita TreeB we always feel the need to slow down, observe the landscape around us, and recharge with positive energy.
So, to say goodbye to 2025 and get ready with enthusiasm for the months ahead, we treated ourselves to a simple yet special day: a family walk among the lake, woods, and small villages of our beloved Lario.
The day began in Bellagio, boarding the ferry to Varenna. We chose the passenger-only ferry—a comfortable and relaxing option, perfect for enjoying the lake without rushing. The crossing is short but evocative, always offering that feeling of suspension: calm waters, mountains reflected on the surface, and crisp winter air.
Walk from Castello di Vezio to Trails Through Woods and Villages
Once in Varenna, we immediately headed uphill toward the Castle of Vezio.
From here, the view is simply extraordinary: the lake opens up in all its beauty, and the eye wanders across water, mountains, and small hillside villages. It’s one of those places that truly appeals to everyone, adults and children alike.
After the visit, we continued on foot toward Bellano, following an easy walk that’s also perfect for families. The route alternates wooded stretches with passages through small villages, offering authentic views and a slow pace that invites conversation, observation, and simply being together.
The Orrido di Bellano and a Sweet Break
Arriving in Bellano, our must-see stop was the Orrido di Bellano.
Walking along the suspended walkways above the canyon carved by water is always a fascinating experience, especially for children.
A practical tip: by showing your ferry ticket, you’re entitled to a discount on the entrance fee—useful to know when planning the day.
After the visit, we treated ourselves to an excellent artisanal gelato, a stroll through the historic center, and a brief visit to the church.
Unfortunately, time was limited: the return ferry to Varenna was leaving shortly, but even these quick stops have their own charm.
Back to Varenna and the Lakeside Walkway
Back in Varenna, we wrapped up the day by walking along the beautiful lakeside walkway: la passeggiata degli innamorati, one of the most relaxing and scenic strolls in the area.
On the official Varenna website, you’ll find all the information about the most interesting places to visit.
Then a few more steps through the historic center—among alleys, small shops, and lake views—before heading home.
It was a simple day, without a rigid plan, and precisely for that reason it was precious. We truly enjoyed our time together as a family, immersed in the beauty of a place that reminds us every day why we chose to live and welcome others here. With this spirit of slowness, nature, and togetherness, at Baita TreeB we’re ready to open a new season. We look forward to sharing it with you, step by step.
